After These Things
Summarised Papers by JN Darby on Prophecy and More – Available at Last
I think most will be thanking God that 2020 is behind us. In the UK Brexit is ‘done’ – well sort-of. And now we have vaccines for Covid 19 – even if the death rate is as high, a lock-down almost as severe, as it was last spring. Ruth and I were vaccinated last Tuesday.
We can thank God that the events of 2020 turned many hearts to God: increased listening in at on-line gospel preachings, more baptisms, more doing the Alpha Course (whatever we may think of it) and how many more praying, we do not know. These things are not reported in the humanist secular media. You Version, who produce the well-known Bible app, said in their 2020 year summary. ‘In a year marked by uncertainty and turmoil, more people than ever turned to the Bible for hope. In fact, the YouVersion Community completed nearly 600 million searches within the app in 2020, an 80% increase over the previous year.’ Their verse of the year was Isaiah 41:10: ‘Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.’
Genuine believers are concerned – ‘What is God saying?’ Others no doubt panic. This whole affair has produced a plethora of theories and, alas, Christians are often carried away by them. So-called evangelists have expounded wild conspiracy theories been ridiculous – to put it mildly. The internet is full of them. Others show a misunderstanding of the teaching in scripture, equating Covid to pestilences in Revelation. If it is like this now what will it be when ‘He who restrains’ and ‘That which restrains’ will be gone?
That is what prompted me to write my book ‘After These Things’. I wrote about it back in September. It needed more editing, and I am thankful to several who have reviewed it. Now it is published and available, approximately at cost, from the printers (Lulu), Amazon and elsewhere in paperback and digital formats (Kindle and EPUB)
