Knowing where we are, and what God wants us to do, in the Confused State of Christendom – The Faith once delivered to the Saints

A summary by Sosthenes of John Nelson Darby’s

J N Darby

“The Faith once delivered to the Saints”

In this paper John Darby notes that whatever God sets up perfectly, main ruins.   This applies equally to the Church publicly.  But it remains the Church, and it is for us to be faithful to the Lord whilst accepting our part in its public failure. We are in the last days and the Lord’s coming is imminent, so we are exhorted to earnestly contend for the faith once delivered to the saints (Jude:3).

Despite the public situation,  we need to have a conscience as to what is evil, and keep close to the Lord,   We must heed the Holy Spirit, judging evil, and resting the word, not the teachings of men.  We must be prepared to act alone or with just a few.  Then we can then get a view of God’s work.  So we should know what God’s mind is for us on our path, individually and collectively.  And we can trust in God, not in our own reasoning – in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength:” (Isaiah 30:15)

Trusting in God

As Christians, God in grace has put us on a path, both individually and collectively.  It is important therefore for to know where we are on that path and what God’s mind for us on it.   Our circumstances may vary, but God’s principles never vary.  While God’s thoughts do not change, we need spiritual discernment to see where we are, and how we can go on with God, without departing from the great principles laid down for us in God’s Word.

God said to a rebellious people, under attack in Hezekiah’s time “in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength:” (Isaiah 30:15). The people were being called “not my people” (Hosea 1:9).  God’s mind never changed as to His people, but they were protected during Hezekiah’s time. Later they were to experience judgment.  Still those who trusted would be preserved.

Man spoils what God sets up

In Adam, Noah, Aaron, Solomon and Nebuchadnezzar, God set up something good.  Man spoilt it.  That is because of his poor human nature.  We must bear this in mind this when assessing our position, otherwise it will become our own ruin.  We cannot plead God’s faithfulness and promises in order to sanction evil.

As God carries on, a remnant is preserved in tune with Him.  So just before the Lord came there were small numbers – Zacharias, Mary, Simeon, Anna – they were awaiting redemption.  They knew one another and were intelligent too as to the Lord’s entry.  Meanwhile Israel rejected Christ when He came.

There was soon Failure in the Early Church

If we look at the Church, God’s assembly on earth, in the early days of the Acts of the Apostles, 3000 were converted in one day.  All had one heart and one mind; they had everything in common, and the place was shaken where they were.   The power of the Spirit of God was there.

Evil got in when Ananias and Sapphira made things out to be different from what they were.  But because the Spirit of God was there, these two fell dead and fear came upon all, both inside and outside.  However, that line of corruption has continued, so that even before the close of scripture the whole profession was mixed up with the world, and judgment was called for.   Just look at the church now, the Roman Catholic system included!

Have a Conscience about our Position in the Church

Due to a lack conscience, most do not have a sense of the condition that they are in, and also how God is working.   To be intelligent spiritually, as being part of the professing church, we need a sense of our condition.

We may have to act Individually

Abraham acted alone – Look to Abraham … I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him (Isaiah 51:2) .  Being little was of no consequence.  God blessed him; He will bless us still more.

The Church teaching? – and the Holy Scriptures

The Church’s teaching?  People say the church teaches this and that, but who is that? The church? What do they mean?  We never see the church teaching.  The church does not teach – it is taught; individuals teach. But remember that there is no inspired person in the church now to teach with absolute authority.  So for authority we must turn to the Word of God itself.  We must learn from Peter and Paul.

Paul reminds Timothy of the things he had learned – the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation (2 Timothy 3:15).

The scriptures are the direct authority of God; they determine everything.  Meanwhile we have His Spirit to communicate things.  We have ministry too, which is a help.  But it is a poor thing if we look only to men as guides.

We are in the Last Days –and it is a time of Judgment

It is on the authority of scripture that we know that we are in the last days.  Unfortunately many people do not appreciate that.  Being in them requires us to have a judgment as to the general condition around us.  What so many do, even if they have right feelings as to the condition, is to shelter in what they regard as the church’s teaching, a wrong principle as we have seen.

We see from scripture that the Church has departed from God, and ruined what He set up.  That was already happening when Jude wrote: it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith once delivered to the saints (Jude:3).

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? (1 Peter 4:17).   In Ezekiel judgment was to start at God’s house – begin at my sanctuary, (Ezekiel 9:6).

As to the last days John said, Even now are there many antichrists, whereby we know that it is the last time. (1 John 2:18).  God has born with the state of the church for centuries: it has not improved.  Now God is calling souls to Himself in grace (as He did Israel).

Our hearts should take notice:  what was set up so beautiful in the power of God’s Spirit – what has it all come to?  It casts us on the strength that can never fail!

The Lord Judging the Churches

In Revelation 2-3, Christ addresses the seven churches in Asia.   He was not speaking to the churches as Head of the body, though He is always that, but as looking on them in their responsibility to maintain His interests down here on the earth.  This was Christ walking in the midst of the candlesticks, judging the state of the churches.  The Churches had to listen to what He had to say.  What had they made of the blessings that had been entrusted to them?   For example, to the young assembly in Thessalonica (Thessaloniki) the Bible speaks of works, labour, faith, love, patience and hope; but to mature Ephesus it is just works, labour and patience – faith and love were missing.  Indeed in Ephesus the spring was missing – judgement was needed, and the candlestick would be removed if they did not repent.  Hence the faithful were exhorted: He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. (Revelation 2:7 etc).

The Public Ruin of the Church

Christians were losing their place. “All seek their own, not the things that are Jesus Christ’s.” (Philippians 2:21) , but they did not cease being the church.  Nevertheless it says, “In the last days perilous times shall come; for men shall be lovers of their own selves and so on; (2 Tim. 3:1-2).   Evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3:13).  There is the professing church, such as it is, and things would return to the level of heathendom.   Mere formality was leading to infidelity or superstition and it was clear that this is how things were going.

The Church has failed publicly in being the epistle of Christ.  It is not a question of apportioning blame or attacking persons, because we are all involved.   Things were set up so beautifully in the power of God’s Spirit – what have they all come to?  It has not ceased to be the church of God.  But the state of the Church has to be judged.  But grace fits the condition.

The Answer to the Church’s Condition is in Jesus

Christ is as sufficient for the Church now, as He was at when He first set up the church in its beauty and blessedness.  We have to look at His word and see what His mind is, whilst not hiding our eyes from the state we are in.  There is power to overcome in the midst of evil.

Things get mixed up – the good and the evil go on together.  The wise and foolish virgins slept together, but things changed at the words ‘Behold the bridegroom cometh’ (Matthew 25:6).  The Lord’s coming is imminent.  Our relationship with God is to be more than our testimony to men, otherwise we will break down and fail.  We must renew our strength.  We must remain in that which was from the beginning.  If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father (1 John 2:24).  The great secret of Christian life is our intercourse with God by the Holy Spirit.  And that makes nothing of ourselves.

When the children of Israel failed in Joshua’s time, they had to get back to Gilgal – complete separation from the world.  But the angel of the Lord went to Bochim, the place of tears.  This means that as well as being separate,  we should feel the situation.

All that will live godly in Christ Jesus will be Persecuted

It does not say that every Christian will be persecuted, but all that will live godly (2 Timothy 3:12).  The world will not stand a man showing the power of the spirit of God.  It drew out the enmity when Christ was here, and it does now.  All those who seek to be faithful to the Lord in days of departure can expect that.

Seeing the Church Here

I see what God set up; I see the unity of the body, and Christ as the Head.  That is what the Church was to be on earth.  Jesus said “Upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18).  It is Christ’s building, and that building is going on still.  It is not finished.  Paul says of the building, fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord.  (Ephesians 2:21).  Now that is what Christ’s work is – men call it the invisible church.

We are building, and if rightly, on the foundation laid by Paul.  If I build with the wrong materials wood, hay, stubble my work will be destroyed.  But Hades gates will not prevail. 1 Corinthians 3:12 .

The Work of the Holy Spirit

As an individual I find that the secret of power of good against evil, outside or inside, is the presence of the Spirit of God, – the Word being the guide.  Paul said to some going on badly, “Do you believe, beloved friends, that your bodies are the temples of the Holy Ghost?” 1 Corinthians 6:19).  Then what kind of persons ought we to be?

It is the same collectively, “know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” (1 Corinthians  3:16 ).  The presence of the Spirit gives power for real blessing – whether in the church or the individual.

Now, we have true and full redemption; the Holy Spirit dwells in those who believe.  We can be the expression of what Christ was Himself when He was down here.  When a person is really a Christian, God dwells in him; he is sealed with the Holy Spirit, who is the power for all moral conduct. If we really believe this should not we be in subjection and not grieving the Spirit?

Things which are inconceivable to man are revealed unto us by God’s Spirit  (1 Corinthians 2:9).  The Spirit of God and the spirit of the world are always in contrast.  What God has revealed is in spite of our state, and this includes our apprehension of the Church in these days of ruin.

In 1 Corinthians 2 the Holy Spirit is seen in three ways

  • Things are revealed by the Spirit;
  • Things communicated in teaching by the Spirit;
  • Things spiritually discerned  – received by the power of the Spirit.

A Warning

I cannot have my private judgment in the things of God.  The moment I get my own thoughts into divine things I start judging the Word of God.  Not accepting God’s word in Scripture is one sign of the evil of our times.  But if I own the Word of God, brought by His Spirit, I hear what God says to me: it judges me; I do not judge it.  It is the divine word brought to my conscience and heart, and who am I to judge God when God is speaking to me?  But it has to be the Word of God – what was inspired at the beginning, and nothing else.

If I were to say I understand and judge the Word of God by itself, I am a rationalist – it is man’s mind judging the revelation of God.  But where I get God’s mind communicated by the Holy Ghost, spiritually discerned, I get God’s mind.  God has given us the wisdom and power to meet the state of ruin in which we are now,  just as at first when He set up the church.  That is what I have to lean upon.

_______

J.N. Darby (1800-1882)

John Nelson Darby (1800-1882), an Anglo-Irish evangelist, was led to the fierce conclusion that all churches, as man-made institutions, were bound to fail. The believer’s true hope was  the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. With others Darby gathered in a less formal way, free of clergy and human structure, founded on a desire to be separate from unholy organisations.

Darby, after resigning his curacy in the Church of Ireland, became a tireless traveller, talented linguist and Bible translator. His influence is still felt in evangelical Christianity.

  5. we in amaro kelle (south in Ethiopia) started building big church on condition that the number of people increased from time to time. However, the building has become more than three years since it stopped because of shortage of money. the congregation tried hard but could collect hardly enough money to continue the church construction. currently i am in university studying, what i ask is that if you try to help finish constructing our church by yourself or by finding us other organization’s who are able to do this, but first you must be sure that the construction is true or not by going there in Kelle. it is about 20m*30 m of area. so please i am so great full to you in the name of Jesus.
    your,s in Christ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

  6. Dear Brother Tekilu

Thank you for your email, and it is good to hear of the Lord’s work in Ethiopia. Thank God for the eunuch who got things started.

There is a big church in your city. It comprises all the lovers of our Lord Jesus who are in-dwelt by the Holy Spirit. They don’t need a building. They don’t need a pastor or vicar. They need the Lord.

Read Romans 16. It looks as if there were several gatherings (one assembly) in Rome and they met in houses.

Funds for church buildings not required!

    Greetings in our Lord

  7. Thank you very much for the fresh milk you have given through this article.as a believer from Tanzania,i will take them to our local assembly to remind my fellow brothers and sisters.
    Be blessed.

  8. I APPRECIATION YOU VERY MUCH. I WANT GOD TO HELP ME HAVE A CHURCH BUILDING WHERE I PREACH HIS WORD TO PEOPLE. AN OPPORTUNITY TO EVEN MOVE ABOUT DOING HIS WORK UNTIL HE CALLS ME TO HIS ETERNAL KINGDOM.

  9. Dear Brother Ezekiel
Thank you very much for your kind email. This little website is putting me in touch with many of my brethren with whom the Lord is working. Joseph said ‘I seek my brethren’ This is helping me to find them. Tell me a little more about the church in Tanzania. Are Christians seeking to give the Lord His place, awaiting His return – or are they carried away with what is charismatic. (I’m not being critical, but..,) We feel very scattered, very few, but have the knowledge that there are millions of others around who love our Lord and Saviour.
    Your brother Sosthenes

  10. Dear Brother Paul
Thank you for your note. We can be thankful that preaching the gospel doesn’t NEED a building – though it is useful (we have a little meeting room and I wish more would come in to listen to the glad tidings). I’ll pray that God gives your what you need.
    In affection
    Your brother Sosthenes

  14. Dear brother Ujjwollos (or whatever your name is)

    Thank you for your note.

I am sorry if you find some of the things I have posted a bit negative. I guess the religious leaders of an earlier time said the same about Ezekiel or Jeremiah. The dispensation may have changed, but man’s flesh hasn’t, and there is always a desire of man away from God to build up something here – even a big, perfect church!

Negative ? Read my summaries of the Present Hope of the Church. Read some of the poems. Read of the blessings of working things out in two’ sand there’s. We have a wonderful heavenly inheritance, dear brother, have we not?

  16. THUS SAYS THE LORD:-

    NEW BIRTH

You people have distorted my “formula” for salvation.

My son told you that truly truly, I say unto you, unless a man be born again by water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God .

But you have substituted new birth of water and Spirit by “new birth” by prayer “Jesus come to my life” and so on.

Why do you look for short-cuts? Why not baptize those who want to be born again? Are you the ones whom my son warned, those who cross oceans and traverse the land to make one convert and when you manage to get one you make him twice worthy of hell than you yourselves?( Mathew 23:15). You are not born again. You are just deceiving yourselves and others, and you are not coming to my paradise, unless you be born again my way.( Mark 16:15-16), Mathew 28:19-20,1 Peter 3:18-21)

    RELIGIOUS DENOMINATIONS ARE EVIL

Where did you get all these denominations? Are they not just your businesses for commercial purposes? They lead you away from me.

    TITHES ARE EVIL

Where do you get the idea of tithing in the new testament of my son?
Tithes were payable under the old covenant. They were to be given after every 3 years, for the produce of the 3rd year ( not for the produce of the 3 years).(Deuteronomy 14:28,Deuteronomy 26:12-13)

They were to be given to the Levite, the widow, fatherless and aliens. My son never required tithes from any one of my children in the new testament. Even where it is mentioned in Mathew 23:23-24, it is in reference to the Jews of the old covenant.Your “pastors” are not Levites. Levites were those of the physical children of Levi.I gave them no inheritance in the lands of Israel and they had to live on the tithes given by their brethren alongside the widows, orphans and aliens.

YOUR PLANTING OF SEEDS DOCTRINE IS DEMONIC

Why have all your preachers lost all shame? You have become shameless beggars, nay, extortioners in my name. Do you not know that I own all silver and gold? Can you not preach my word without shouting your selves hoarse telling people to go to the phones to make monetary pledges? You look like clowns. I will burn you, nay, torment you with everlasting fire if you do not repent and change. You should pray to me not to the people.Do not beg people for me, you should pray to me for yourselves and for the people.

WOMEN SHOULD NOT SPEAK IN CHURCHES,
TEACH OR LEAD MEN IN PRAYERS

Why do you disobey my word? My son Jesus (Yashua) had 12 apostles. How many women were there among those? I also sent my servant Paul to write to you as follows in 1 Corinthians 14:33-38:-

33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.

As in all the churches of the saints, 34 the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. 35 If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.

36 Or was it from you that the word of God came? Or are you the only ones it has reached? 37 If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord. 38 If anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.

WOMEN SHOULD ALWAYS COVER THEIR HAIR/HEADS

In 1 CORINTHIANS 11:3-10 you read:-

3.Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. 4 Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. 5 And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head–it is just as though her head were shaved. 6 If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head. 7 A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man. 8 For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; 9 neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. 10 For this reason, and because of the angels, the woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head.

Those women who do not cover their heads or the men who cover their heads by caps whether religious or otherwise will not come to my paradise, nor those who worship with such.

WOMEN SHOULD NOT WEAR ORNAMENTS OR WEAR COSTLY CLOTHING OR BRAID HAIR

In 1 TIMOTHY 2:8-15 you read:-

8 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; 9 in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 10 but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. 11 Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. 12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. 15 Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.

    HOMOSEXUALITY IS VILE

I did not create anyone with an orientation to having sex with members of one’s own sex. Homosexuality is vile. It is what made me burn Sodom and Gomorrah. No homosexual will inherit everlasting life. I will burn them with the fire of hell.

    POLYGAMY

It is not me who said that a man should have only one wife.Do you not know about Abraham, Jacob, David, Elikanah, or about Isaiah 4:1-2

    In that day seven women
will take hold of one man
and say, “We will eat our own food
    and provide our own clothes;
only let us be called by your name.
    Take away our disgrace!”

2 In that day the Branch of the Lord will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of the survivors in Israel.

1.Timothy 3 only prevents appointment as bishops and deacons of those who have more than one wife. It is not a generalized law prohibiting my sons from having more than one wife. Why should I give wild beasts, birds, crawling things, insects and your own domesticated animals many wives and not the sons of my own image? Have you not read how I gave my servant David so many wives and told him in

    2 Samuel 12:8 ?

8 I gave your master’s house to you, and your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you all Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more.

My Holy Spirit tells you plainly that in latter times men will not put up with sound (biblical) doctrine but will heap up a great number of teachers to teach what their itching years want to hear. They will teach the teachings of men and those of demons, forbidding people to marry.

    (1 Timothy 4:1-5, 2Timothy 4:1-4, 2)

    SUMMARY:-

If you want to come to my paradise and inherit eternal life, believe my son Jesus, repent of your sins, be baptized ( by immersion in water, natural flowing water) and obey the entirety of the new testament. And do not belong to religious denominations, belong to me.

This message is delivered to you
    by my servant in sackcloth,
CHARLES MWANGI GACHICHIO, one of my 2 witnesses of the book of Revelation 2:3-15.

Those who have years to hear, let them hear. Those who want to oppose, you are free to do so, to the everlasting ruin of your own bodies, souls and selves.

  17. Dear brother
    Charles

I have read your account, and whilst there
are many things that I can agree with I have a few points.

One of the problems is that you have used a
    liberal translation of the Bible.
That can be dangerous, because translations can be adapted to suit your
ideas.  In my work I use the King
    James version.
Why? – The Spirit of God has seen to it that this version, despite
some limitations of original texts, and known mis-translations,
has stood the test of time.  Others,
the RSV, even the NIV come and go.
Personally I rely heavily on the Darby version.  It is generally perceived to be more
accurate, even if somewhat archaic and difficult to follow.

    THUS SAYS THE LORD:-

    NEW BIRTH

You people have distorted my “formula”
    for salvation.

Your formula??  There is only one formula and that is
given to us in scripture.  Paul
could say ‘my glad tidings’, but he was an apostle.  The apostolic days ended long ago.

My son told you that truly truly, I say unto you, unless a man be born again by water
and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God .

But you have substituted new birth of
water and Spirit by “new birth” by prayer “Jesus come to my life” and so on.

The subject of new birth – and being
born again – is often the subject of debate.  It is clear to me.  It is the sovereign work of God, by the
Holy Spirit.  ‘He which hath begun a
good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ’
    Phil 1:6.

Why do you look for short-cuts?
Why not baptize those who want to be born again? Are you the ones whom my son warned, those who cross
oceans and traverse the land to make one convert and when you manage to get one
you make him twice worthy of hell than you yourselves?( Mathew 23:15). You are
not born again. You are just deceiving yourselves and others, and you are not
coming to my paradise, unless you be born again my way.(
    Mark 16:15-16), Mathew 28:19-20,1 Peter 3:18-21)

I think you are confusing baptism by water
(which puts you on Christian ground) and baptism of the Spirit.  ‘By one Spirit are we all baptized into
    one body’
1 Cor 12:13 .  No human agent is required.

    RELIGIOUS DENOMINATIONS ARE EVIL

Where did you get all these
denominations? Are they not just your businesses for commercial purposes? They
    lead you away from me.

    Strong language
    but true.

But those in those denominations we should recognize as more excellent
    than ourselves.

    TITHES ARE EVIL

Where do you get the idea of tithing in
the new testament of my son?
Tithes were payable
under the old covenant. They were to be given after every 3 years, for the
produce of the 3rd year ( not for the produce of the 3
    years).(Deuteronomy 14:28,Deuteronomy 26:12-13)

They were to be given to the Levite, the
    widow, fatherless and aliens.My
son never required tithes from any one of my children in the new testament.
Even where it is mentioned in Mathew 23:23-24, it is in reference to the Jews
    of the old covenant.Your
“pastors” are not Levites. Levites were those of the physical children of Levi.I gave them no inheritance in the lands of Israel and
they had to live on the tithes given by their brethren alongside the widows,
    orphans and aliens.

Yes, Christians confuse the Jewish system
with the church.  Tithes as a legal
obligation have no part in Christianity.
If one wants to give 10% of one’s income to further God’s work than that
is a personal matter.  The Lord gave
    100%.  Same
    applies to clergy.  Their position
    is not scriptual

YOUR PLANTING OF SEEDS DOCTRINE IS
    DEMONIC

Why have all your preachers lost all
shame? You have become shameless beggars, nay, extortioners in my name. Do you not know that I own
all silver and gold? Can you not preach my word without shouting your selves hoarse telling people to go to the phones to make
monetary pledges? You look like clowns. I will burn you, nay, torment you with everlasting fire if you do not
repent and change. You should pray to me not to the people.Do not beg people for me, you should pray to
me for yourselves and for the people.

OK – But your tone might offend.  Better the still small voice

WOMEN SHOULD NOT SPEAK IN CHURCHES,
TEACH OR LEAD MEN IN PRAYERS

Why do you disobey my word? My son Jesus
(Yashua) had 12 apostles. How many women were there
among those? I also sent my servant Paul to write to you as follows in 1
    Corinthians 14:33-38:-

33 For God is not a God of confusion but
    of peace.

As in all the churches of the saints, 34
the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to
speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. 35 If there is
anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is
shameful for a woman to speak in church.

36 Or was it from you that the word of
God came? Or are you the only ones it has reached? 37 If anyone thinks that he
is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing
to you are a command of the Lord. 38 If anyone does not recognize this, he is
    not recognized.

This is true.  Sisters have their place.  They cannot teach but they can expound
the way of God (see Acts 18)

    WOMEN SHOULD ALWAYS COVER THEIR
    HAIR/HEADS

In 1 CORINTHIANS 11:3-10 you read:-

3.Now I want you to realize that the
head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of
Christ is God. 4 Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered
dishonors his head. 5 And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head
uncovered dishonors her head–it is just as though her head were shaved. 6
If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it
is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover
her head. 7 A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory
of God; but the woman is the glory of man. 8 For man did not come from woman,
but woman from man; 9 neither was man created for
woman, but woman for man. 10 For this reason, and because of the angels, the
woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head.

Those women who do not cover their heads
or the men who cover their heads by caps whether religious or otherwise will
not come to my paradise, nor those who worship with such.

I think you are going too far.  Women should cover their heads when
praying.  But if they don’t the Lord
    still hears.  Sadly millions have
their heads uncovered.  And they are
more devoted to the Lord than I am.

WOMEN SHOULD NOT WEAR ORNAMENTS OR WEAR
    COSTLY CLOTHING OR BRAID HAIR

In 1 TIMOTHY 2:8-15 you read:-

8 I desire therefore that the men pray
everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; 9 in like manner
also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and
moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 10 but,
which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. 11 Let a woman
learn in silence with all submission. 12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or
to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was formed
first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived,
fell into transgression. 15 Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if
they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.

    Same
    applies

    HOMOSEXUALITY IS VILE

I did not create anyone with an
orientation to having sex with members of one’s own sex. Homosexuality is vile.
It is what made me burn Sodom and Gomorrah. No homosexual will inherit
everlasting life. I will burn them with the fire of hell.

Of course it is.  It is abhorrant
to God.  God dealt with it at
Sodom.  But where do you get that judgment from?
Scripture says that they will not inherit God’s kingdom.  That is different from everlasting
life.  A homosexual can put his or
her faith in the finished work of Christ and be eternally secure.  If they continue in their sin, they
cannot have part in the working out of the kingdom of God here.  One cannot have Christian fellowship
with them.  But they will be saved
for eternity.  That is God’s grace.

    POLYGAMY

It is not me who said that a man should
    have only one wife.Do you
not know about Abraham, Jacob, David, Elikanah, or
    about Isaiah 4:1-2

    In that day seven women
will take
    hold of one man
and say, “We will eat our own food
and provide our
    own clothes;
only let us be called by your
    name.
Take away our disgrace!”

2 In that day the Branch of the Lord
will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and
glory of the survivors in Israel.

1.Timothy 3 only prevents appointment as
bishops and deacons of those who have more than one wife. It is not a
generalized law prohibiting my sons from having more than one wife. Why should
    I give wild beasts, birds,crawling
things, insects and your own domesticated animals many
wives and not the sons of my own image? Have you not read how I gave my servant
David so many wives and told him in

    2 Samuel 12:8 ?

8 I gave your master’s house to you, and
your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you all Israel and Judah. And if all
this had been too little, I would have given you even more.

My Holy Spirit tells you plainly that in
latter times men will not put up with sound (biblical) doctrine but will heap
up a great number of teachers to teach what their itching years want to hear.
They will teach the teachings of men and those of demons, forbidding people to
    marry.

    (1 Timothy 4:1-5, 2Timothy 4:1-4, 2)

I don’t think we have many Christian
    teachers promoting polygamy!

    SUMMARY:-

If you want to come to my paradise and
    inherit eternal life,believe
my son Jesus, repent of your sins, be baptized ( by immersion in water, natural
flowing water) and obey the entirety of the new testament. And do not belong to religious denominations, belong
    to me
    .

This message is delivered to you
by
    my servant in sackcloth,
CHARLES MWANGI
GACHICHIO, one of my 2 witnesses of the book of Revelation 2:3-15.

Those who have years to hear, let them hear. Those who want to oppose, you are free
to do so, to the everlasting ruin of your own bodies, souls and selves.

Sorry dear brother I do not understand what
you are getting at.  John 3:16 says ‘believe in me’ – nothing added – nothing
about baptism (though baptism is right).
To have part in the assembly one has, as you say to accept the New
Testament.  But obedience is not a
    precondition to eternal salvation.
It is to the enjoyment of Christianity.

I do not know who you think you are dear
brother.  Are you referring to the
two witnesses in Rev 11?  They do
not belong to the church.  They are
of a future time, an awful time from which we will be spared.

Belong to Jesus, follow Him, keep near to
    Him and be humble.

In due humility, your brother in Christ.

  18. For sure the end time is near. Believers, let us trust in God alone. ask him for revelation of the scriptures, do not take everything that comes. we are living in dangerous times.

  19. i am from poor family and i do not have my own home (shelter) so need christian who stand with( support me) according to our bible said

  20. Dear Soboka
Please give me your contact details and I will pass them on to a relevant charity.

  21. i want to convert my religion (currently I am muslim but know i want to convert in christian) so please help me how can i do my cell no. 09770257118 mail id =mazh92@rediff.com

  22. Dear Mazhar

Thank you for your interesting question. You would think I would be delighted that you want to change your religion. In fact I am not! Why?

Because I want you to get to know Jesus yourself, and find Him to be your own personal Saviour.

So it is not a matter of religion.

You are, no doubt a good Muslim. From that I mean that you obey the Koran, you do what your Imams and Mullahs tell you. And they tell you that if you obey you will go to heaven when you die.

If you convert to Christianity as another religion you will want to be a good Christian. From that I mean that you obey the ten commandments, you do what your priests and bishops tell you. And they tell you that if you obey you will go to heaven when you die.

What’s the difference? It is just one religion for another – and you will be very disappointed – disillusioned even.

    So what is it then?

Religion is based on fear. True Christianity is baed on love.

The Bible tells us: (I hope you have one – if not give me your address and I will send one). Read Paul’s letter to the Romans where he works out the whole matter of why we need salvation. It says in Romans chapter 5

1Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

This means that we believe God – that is faith – if we do that we are justified before God – so God does not look on what sins we have committed – however many or few – because He does not accept us on that basis. Jesus died for our sins – He paid the penalty for us – so that we might live. God therefore sees us on the basis of what Jesus has done and what Jesus is – not what we have done and what we are. Indeed justification means that God sees me as if I had done nothing wrong at all.

Let me tell you a story. I used to have business dealings with a very rich, but devout Muslim gentleman. He had given a lot of money to charity. One day he said to me – “I hope God accepts me for what I’ve done’ My reply was ‘My dear friend, I know that God has already accepted me because of what Jesus has done” – you see the difference.

2By whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

    – God’s grace – God coming to us in love and blessing us when we had no right even for forgiveness ourselves. It is all from God’s side.

    3And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience;

    – God didn’t promise us an easy path

4And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

    – But there’s hope.

5And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who is given unto us

    – God even dwells in the Christian because the Holy Spirit is God. This may be difficult for a Muslim (rightly taught that there is only one God) to understand, but we know God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit – three Persons – one God. Just accept this by faith. That is how God has revealed Himself.

6For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

Jesus came here and died so that we might not. Either Jesus will come, or we will fall asleep in Jesus.

7For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet perhaps for a good man some would even dare to die.

8But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

    – You cannot say that of Mohammed.

9Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

    – Nothing to fear.

10For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

    – God loves His enemies – He gave Jesus to save them. That is why Christians are taught to love their enemies and do good to those who hate them (See Matthew chapter 5).

11And not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the reconciliation.

    – Reconciliation. Religions try to bridge the gap between God and man. Christianity does not bridge the gap – it removes it. That is what is meant by reconciliation.

God has come to us in Jesus.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John’s gospel – chapter 3 verse 16.

I hope, Mazhar I have answered some of your questions. You may have more, please write.

But I cannot do anything myself. Yes, I will pray for you. But you must turn to God yourself. Tell Him that you need a Saviour, and He will tell you – ‘You can have a Saviour – that is Jesus’

May you get to know Him personally my dear friend.

    Yours in affection
    Sosthenes

  30. Dear brother Salma

You will see that I have often said that a church does not need a building or a full time minister. Aquila and Priscilla had an assembly in their house and employed Paul to make tents.
As to bibles (in Urdu), I am sure there are plenty available via the Gideons or the Trinitarian Bible Society. I support the Gideons.

We are in days of 2s and 3s. May you be encouraged

    Your brother in our Lord

  33. I highly appreciate your way of explaining the holy book. I wish I could see you one beautiful day by his grace. I am from west Africa, Liberia

  34. Dear sosthenes my name is Kena Deressa Yadata From Ethiopia. now I’am second year frist degree of theology student at Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus Seminary college. I have 3.65 CGPA of one year by now i have not any money to pay the fee so how could you help me? pls contact me at kena.deressa@yahoo.con or 0963291940

  35. Dear Kena
Thank you for your email. Whilst I am sure you are sincere in your theological studies, I do not think it is necessary to be a full time student. The apostle Paul had the highest legal and theological grade possible, but he counted it all loss for the excellency of Christ Jessu his Lord.
If you cannot afford the course, give it up and learn in the school of God, working with souls.
    Sorry to be blunt.
    Yours in Christ
    Sosthenes
